Weekend @ the ME...

ice and dra

with charmed & robin

with mark-it

it's peggy..

It's weekend here in the ME....yahooooooo!!!!
After a week of toxican sa office there's gonna be a lot of things to look forward to.
But before that let me just give u a little recap of my night last night. I had a surprise visit from Dra. Allen at my second job. No plans really of going out. We chatted for a while as he waited for me. As usual tawanan. Basta si Dra allen ang kasama mo, expected na yan. Nagkakaintindihan kc kami. We usuallyspeak on our native dialect pra walang makakaintindi maxado whatever things we laugh about. lolz! mean db?

Then we had dinner sa tabi tabi. We stayed there for an hour. Kwentuhan, tawanan, minding our own business. Since konti lng din naman ang kumakain din. So ok lng to laugh ng mejo malakas lakas. After that, we went directly to his house pra dalhin ang mga pinamili nya. At 1AM we decided to go to starbucks, since ramadan naman ngayon dito, ok lng to go out kahit late at night na. Malls, cafe houses like starbucks, bukas pa xa, until 3AM the most.

We called up peggy pra sumunod. After like 30 minutes anjan na ang lola mo. Kagagaling lang nya actually sa Four Seasons Hotel, despedida party daw ng boss nya sa ANB. Ayunsuper kwento ang lola mo how he was mentioned by his boss sa speech nya. Take note special mention pa daw talaga. Isn't that sweet diba. Almost all of our conversation eh about sa work nya and his boss. How close they are and stuff.

Btw, I ordered hazelnut hot chocolate ganun din kay dra and kay peggy naman vanilla frappucino (britney's favorite) naiinitan daw kc xa. i dunno. eh samantalang medyo may kainitan pa dito sa riyadh. he was actually wearing a semi formal jacket. fit for the winter talaga. lolz. wala lang eksena lang cguro xa. Medyo matagal kami sa starbucks. once si peggy kasama mo. tawanang umaatikabo talaga, promise. kung sa bisaya pa si peggy, "walay libog". dont get me wrong here. haha!

We left starbucks around 230AM, hatid nila ako sa accomodation namin. i slept around 3Am na after sending my txt reply to charmed one, who's still up pa din watching my all time fav tv series one tree hill.

Anyway, going back to my itinerary for the weekend. Maybe after posting this entry dito sa blog ko. i might get an hour sleep. so when i wake up mejo fresh naman and ready for work at my second job. charmed might drop by later sa UC to visit me. btw, i called charmed kanina, and he was on his way na to riyadh. i guess by now, he's at his host (POTR) na. sana lang magkita kami ni charmed later. but if not, tom na lang.

Then on thursday, i had an invitation to Mr. D's bday at his POTR with rob. ayun meet up ulet kaming lahat dun. same group of friends. same old familiar faces. The party would be the highlight of my weekend.

As i can see it, the party would be fun fun fun. Knowing Den and Rob, they're well known for being fabulous.

Friday? nothing much really. i just had to sleep the whole day coz for sure puyat na naman ako nyan. at least i'm gonna be having fun naman on thursday.

Anyway, I'm gonna posting pictures of the party soon as i get back for work on saturday.

Sooo that's the things that i'm gonna be doing this weekend. No more. No less.

it's mwah,
bobot

P.S. Thanks for the call J. talk to you again on friday. ingatz
Congrats to friendship mark-it for your new blogsite. i linked u up na din.

24-hour-party-people

chin and I
emotions
mark-it and I

Rob & I
It was a night of beauty, glamour & elegance at the long overdue & much awaited RAGI victory party at ranco compound last Thursday.

It has definitely been one of the best parties I have ever attended in months. The party was very well organized; from the decoration down to the caterer who served one of the best food I have ever tasted (catering-wise) & the sound system maestro known for playing notorious music and danceable disco beats (not quite, based on feedbacks..hehe).

Ragi never misses to put up a party as successful like what we just had last Thursday. Thanks to the very active Ragi officers spearheaded by the ever glamorous Mader R.

A month of prep had been worth the wait.

As the night progressed, the party scene became even more hotter as rw has been continuously served. No heavy-drinking just a few sip to set the mood. For me, it isn’t cool to drink as much as I could take. I might get dizzy from the flashing dancing lights & lasers, back and forth. Good thing I did not. I don’t wanna create scene. Lolz!

The party’s main attraction was the pageant-like presentation from the dancing dept of ragi. Together with my effeminate friends who strutted the stage and showed off; dress in oh-so-elegant gowns from dugong and stilettos ladies would envy about. My dazzling friends were a sight to behold as they presented themselves to the crowd. Pegs was crown MGRAGI ’07. It may be scripted but peg deserved the crown.

So there….but hey, each of the models received special awards, to boot.

Personally, if I were to don an award that night, this would probably the awards I’d give away:

The best dress award goes to Mader R; she never fails to amaze us with her choice of dresses. Hair moussed, sprayed & lacquered & make-up carefully done to match it. All eyes was on her that very night for some good reasons.

The alluring diva award goes to tintin; with an oozing appeal and a bubbly personality, tintin could easily beat everyone with the award.

Best moves of the night award goes to chin and jun; so you think they can dance? I think they can really dance.

Exotica award goes to peggy and nitz; move over everyone. Those pouty lips says it all. Lolz

Silent night award goes to dra. Allen; who could beat somebody like her who’s just sitting there in the corner? Curiously enough, what was she doing in that corner while enjoying rw? Watching everyone’s moves trying to spot his man for the night, I bet.

The after-party at one of the sponsor’s house with few and selected friends was quite intimate. Everyone coexisted with everyone for all eternity, for two good reasons, morlak & karaoke.

It was definitely not just another Thursday evening.
Overall, the party was all fun, victorious moment for all of us, the ragi officers, members, & guests invited and uninvited.

Random thoughts (Pieces of me...)

smallville season 6
" notes on a scandal"

There are nights that I just wanted to stay in my bed and like do the things I almost forget on doing because of the busy schedule I had. Last night was one of those nights that i have decided to take a shot on myself. I opted not to work and just do anything outside of the norm. No plans at all.

What comes in my mind right away was to watch smallville. It has been a while since I have indulged myself to watching one of my favorite tv series. Last night, I had the opportunity and so I grabbed it at once. I went on to go for two episodes. The series maybe over in the US, but I couldn’t care less. I had episodes 9 & 10 straightaway from season 6.

Normally, I would watch with my head-set on but last night was different. I watch it using the creative 5.1 surround I bought months ago. You could possibly hear the sound effects roaring like thunder echoing inside our room. It’s amazing! I wonder what my roommates would have thought. I haven’t done that in sooo long a time. Looks like its just ok with them. I heard no one was complaining?

Let me give you a little background on how I started liking smallville. I have been a fan of smallville for a couple of years now. The first time I watch the first episode, I was hooked. It’s like I can’t stop. It has always been the first episode that says it all for me. Then it has become one of the many lists of series I have collected and loved watching. My priceless possession, right X? God it took me like forever to download each episode and sometimes asked from a friend and from a friend’s friend to download it for me.

Each season of smallville brings a lot of excitement each time it comes out in every episode. The show has drama, action, romance, mystery, everything all packed together. The battle between lex and clark makes it even more exciting; the love triangle between the characters. The non stop twists in every season and stories on some episode like “lexmas” for example.

Aside from watching Smallville last night. I couldn’t content myself but to watch the movie highly recommended by my friend chay (another tv series and movie addict); entitled “Notes on a scandal”. Oh boy, the movie must have put me on a nostalgic mode. I could somehow relate to the story 8 years ago. I was greatly deluded by myself back then. But I chose the high road instead and never looked back again. Some experienced worthy to be left behind and learned from it.

“Notes on a scandal” became an instant hit on me. I have decided it would be included in my all time favorite lists of movies.

The movie has an emotional center, lust, jealousy, revenge in a form of friendship, that’s what makes it work. The display of acting talent between Judi and Cate was superb. No other actress I think could pull it off but the two. Their performance was completely credible. For me, they are the epitome of fine actors that every actor should imitate. If I could rate the movie in a scale of 1-10, I give it a 9.

I was just explicably drawn with my bed last night. I felt the connection I haven’t feel in a long time. There have been so many things that my bed and I shared.

If beds could just talk!

I have nothing....

Nothing much to do right now, nothing much to write either.

So I have decided to post the comment of J for me from Katz latest post about “gay friendship”. I can’t help not to post this. Made my day J!
eto xa:

ano 'to? topic of the week? :)last nite (after work), i was watching queer as folk (2nd time). i actually enjoy watching this show. it fascinates me talaga. fascinating ang gay characters sa show - macho gay, feminine gay, you don't look gay but you're gay. nakakatuwa yun show pero meron moral lesson naman. it helps me to understand people who are gay. tapos ngayon gay friendship ang topic mo? i'll definitely have a say on this :)
friendly and bubbly - yes, i totally agree! kasi si soul sistah super friendly and bubbly sa email, video call, conversation. we can talk about anything, you name it. i always have fun talking with him. kulang na kulang nga ang oras. kung pwede nga lang i-extend ang work hrs namin pareho. super dami kasi ng kwentuhan. never a dull moment kapag kausap mo sya.
honest - sobra! he gives you a straight answer. minsan too detail *lol* kalokah pero natural sa kanya yun eh.
fashion consultant - lately, sya ang fashion consultant ko. he'll tell you what he thinks is good. up to you if you want to take his advice pero syiempre, follow ko sya *hehehe* trendy and he's got the look - basta you can tell from all his photos. he stood out! kasi sya yun pinaka sa lahat!!! you gotta see him in shirt and a tie. the colours he choose really suit him. bagay na bagay nga sya sa corporate world. bongga! mapa-casual, semi-formal, formal - bagay lahat sa kanya.
a good conversationalist - you learn a lot from him. smart guy! he knows how to spice up the conversation. wala ako masabi!
sweet - when he talks, so lambing. basta hindi gayish! has a good heart and appreciates you as his friend - a genuine person! may chemistry agad from the start. you get to know him better each day.
trustworthy - you can tell from day 1. once you earn that trust, friends for life na kayo :) he won't hesitate to share his world with you!!!

I was at Katz blogsite this AM when I learned something good has written about me by my friend J. I was sooo touched by her kind words again. She always does that.

To J, I truly hope I could live up to your expectations. Thank you so much J. I have said this lines before and i'm gonna say it again; you’re the most charismatic, genuinely and kind person I have ever known..the biggest heart, remember that.

With that, let me leave ya’ll with a quotation from Dale Carnegie which goes:

“You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years of trying to get other people interested in you”
Thats all for now, I have to catch up on updates, haven’t been updating a lot lately..eek. And I'll try to get the pictures during peggys’ bday posted tom.

P.S. Pls visit Katz blogsite. She had interesting stories to tell at http://www.simplykat.blogspot.com/

It's Peggy's turn...

the bday gurl in stripes...

Last Thursday, it was Peggy’s turn to celebrate his birthday. I believed this has been peggy’s most unanticipated birthday ever. Coz normally, he’d be like “I can’t wait for my birthday, like a thousand times” referring to his past stories with me. Remember CitiPlaza Pegs? But this one, it felt like it has crept up on him.

Everything was last minute, from the decoration down to the catering services. God it’s like the pressure was on him!

But it turned out to be a huge hit. Peggy was sooo reluctant to celebrate at first. He wanted the celebration to be just small and intimate, with few and close friends only. Eat out at a fancy restaurant stuff like that.

That’s impossible! Knowing peggy, he could easily beat everyone with the Miss Congeniality and win the award. Haha!

Even so, like what I said, the party was a huge success. All of peggy’s close friends were present. From what I saw last Thursday, peggy was all smile, doing the rounds trying to entertain all the guests. Everyone had their share of the limelight though. I had my share too but I never had plans to steal scenes, I’d hope no stories would leak in the coming days. LOLZ.

Overall, it was peggy who shined the most; after all, it's his birthday. Kudos to you gurlie!!!

And the winner is......

ardon in action....

our main man...

our kabayan idol...

Reality shows has been sprouting like mushrooms in almost all countries all over the world and like almost everyone’s jumping on to the bandwagon. There’s American idol, pop idol, idol this, idol that, idol wherever. Television networks have been trying to follow the trend. They imitate, they copy. Trying to level with the success other reality shows had been gaining. Some succeeded and some never went on for a next season.

In Riyadh, they also have their own version of idol. They call it "Kabayan Idol".

A month ago, a friend of my mind went on to try his luck for this competition. He passed the audition with flying colors. Top 5 of the many hopefuls who auditioned. Quite a very impressive result. What everyone didn’t know he has been to few auditions himself back in the Philippines but never made it to the finals. Always in the top 40. Not bad! Considering the long and tedious audition process in the PI beginning with thousands of candidates eliminated outright. The experienced, the confidence & his personality are the ones that made him impressed the judges and made it to the preliminaries of the Kabayan Idol.

What made me decide to feature this friend of mine at my blog for the sole reason that I missed his performance on the finals night. I was actually having a party of my own too. The elimination night last August 30 coincided with my celebration. The funny thing was that after the show at the embassy he went straight right away at my party. Sooo this is sort of like my way of saying thank you, congratulations and for the job he’s done soo well. Made him “in” at the top 13.

The rumor mills were buzzing once again when the final result of the kabayan idol was announced the following night. But whatever that rumor might be, I don’t really care. Ardon made it to the top 13 representing Riyadh region. That made sense and that is what really matter. Ardon proved his worth as a singer with a total package.

He lost the competition during the final night but it doesn’t end there. We know he has done and competed the best he could. It’s an achievement we all can’t deny.

For us all his friends; Ardon will always be our Kabayan Idol.

We believed in your talent. Sooo go on and use it to the fullest!

I've watched her....

I was watching the video of brits perf at VMAs last night at youtube excitedly. I couldn’t help myself but laughed so hard after her performance, made my roommates woke up.

I would like to think that what was written all over the news at yahoo and any other newspaper all over the globe are true. Haha! Brit made headlines once again. Arab news entertainment page headline was on brits too. I’d say she still wins. Good or bad publicity! My girl never seemed to amaze everyone whatever she does. Makes me like her even more!

I was trying to analyze what went wrong. Then I came up with my own conclusion. Her performance was done on purpose. I’ve seen brit perform before, I’ve seen her gyrate with the dancers before, I’ve seen the best of brits moves. She even made history at her previous performances at VMAs. But what went wrong? She was dancing like she doesn’t care anymore. I felt like she just walked through her performance just to get it over with. But the real reason? I dunno!

Earlier this morning I was browsing on the net trying to find some answers and more news on brit and the VMAs. This is what I found; gossip or true, it’s all up to you. His name is JAMES G and this is what he has to say about all the brouhaha surrounding the VMAs and brits perf, no more no less;

THIS IS THE TRUTH ABOUT WHY BRIT FAILED TONIGHT…..love you B. Britney threatened to ditch her VMA performance just minutes before she took the stage. Want to know why? Britney overheard Sarah Silverman rehearsing her monologue in which she calls Britney’s babies mistakes and takes jab after jab at Britney. Britney made it very clear with MTV that Sarah was NOT allowed to talk about her kids, and MTV agreed. That big-mouthed @$$%@*% said it any way. Sam Lufti ( VMA producer) was overheard backstage screaming at Sarah Silverman because of her outrageous remarks saying : “Sarah Silverman is a seriously unprofessional person to make fun of infants to get a laugh.” Perhaps this why Britney looked upset during her performance. Britney was seen backstage in Alli’s arms crying about how cruel people can be to her babies. While it is Silverman’s job to get a laugh, it should not be at the expense of little babies. Your career must be hurting if you have to turn to bashing infants in order to gain a laugh. You’ll get what’s yours. AAAAAAAAAND Britney Spears was to perform under the magic of Chris Angel….but MTV freaked out at the last minute finding out what Britney was actually going to do. Supposedly, what Britney and Chris were planning was to do a set of mirrors and flotation. But when told to the Palms hotel/Casino…the hotel flipped. Insurance was the main problem, and the stage couldn’t support the performance. MTV also freaked at the last minute because of their fear of being “too controversial” during the performance. Britney and Chris were infact furious with MTV’s sad excuse and told Britney to change the performance at the last minute. Britney’s original performance was to infact appear and disappear. To float through the air…and for much mature dancing.

Whether this one is true or not. Nothing’s changed. Brit’s perf at the VMAs has been performed already. She has done her part. Let’s just wait and see what she’s gonna do next. We just have to wait for Britney to come out and tell us all what really happen.

OMG Brit....(MTV VMA '07)

Brits highly anticipated performance at the VMA 07 has just kicked off. The result? A dispointment! A ridicule! These are some of the headlines that grace the front page at Yahoo.com earlier today. And,

These are the comments anti-britney had to say;

“THE FAT LADY HAS SANG, OOPS THAT WAS BRIT BRIT, HER CAREER IS OFFICIALLY OVER, SHE SHOULD JUST GET BACK WITH KEVIN AND DO THE REALITY SHOW THING, THE CONCERT TOUR WILL BE A FLOP..MILF POP STARS SUCK!”

“I THINK BRITNEYS COMEBACK WAS TERRIBLE. SHE WAS NOT READY. YOU CAN TELL BY HER ACTIONS OR LACK OF THEM AS I SHOULD SAY. DEFINITELY THE WRONG CLOTHES. SHE LOOKED LIKE SHE GOT IT OFF THE ROCK AND JUST TRIED TO SQUEEZE INTO IT. WHY DID ANYONE LET HER DO THIS? HUGE CAREER MISTAKE. SHE WASN’T EVEN SMILING OR LAUGHING. IF YOU LOOK AT HER FACE GOOD, SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE WAS ON SOMETHING. WHAT A SHAME!”

“WHY ARE THEY PUSHING BRITNEY SPEARS FOR A COMEBACK, YOU MORONS SHOULD ADMIT THE FACT THAT HER CAREER IS OVER. WITH ALL THE TROUBLES SHE HAD. IT WILL BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET BACK TO HER OLD SELF.

“SHE SHOULD HAVE NOT PERFORMED. SHE WAS TERRIBLE AND PUT NO EFFORT WHATSOEVER AT ALL. SHAME ON HER. THE PERFORMANCE WAS AN EMBARASSMENT.”

Although I somehow agree with what they have to say to her since I have seen pictures of the performance myself and I can say she wasn’t at her best, she was a little rusty; but reading all this made me feel sad. I have been a Britney fan all these years and I am one of those fan whose rooting for her comeback musically. The VMA performance tagged as the most anticipated act ever in the MTV history made me even more excited. For this I woke up early, checked the internet only to find out shocking headlines scorning brits performance. That she wasn’t’ comfortable during the whole performance. blah blah. I feel sorry for the gurl. She’s been thru a lot already.

Read what Perez Hilton a popular blogger/gossip columnist had to say about her; "She blew it, Everybody knows Britney lip-syncs, but that's because she dances so much. She barely even danced in this. It was so bad. It was painful. It was embarrassing. And I loved it!"

Don’t worry brit, I’m still a fan. You’re still my girl! I know u did the right thing. U just have to take it slow. You did great for a comeback. Gimme more? your single? Definitely works for me; I could listen to the song forever!

The performance at the VMAs may not be BRITNEY QUALITY, I’d say, next time brit, next time!

Over and done...

Finally, I had everything done last night i.e. laundry, laundry and more laundry, coffee at starbucks, purchase vit c and bee pollen at GNC, get ang pinalaundry sa labas. Etc.etc.

Since I had to excuse myself for work at my other job, I made a plan to do the things that I have not done last Thursday. And the number one priority on my list was to do my laundry. Which I did, late than I expected. *lol*. I was supposed to do the laundry soon as I arrived from work but it did not happen. Y? nakatulog ako. Supposedly I would take a 15-30 min. nap lang pro naextend xa ng 2-hrs. To my surprise pag gising ko, its 8:58PM na, cguro pagod lng talga from work.

Pagkasalang ko ng laundry. Yosi yosi muna sa sala ta’s chikahan kasama mga friendship. Narealize ko I had to pick up my clothes pala na pinalaundry ko last Friday. Niyaya ko si nel to accompany me. He’s actually new sa company namin. Ta’s I asked him kung nag dinner na xa. I decided that we have coffee sa starbucks. Ta’s daan sa GNC to buy my supplements. We stayed for a while sa starbucks. Story telling a lie. Hehe. Then dinaanan na namin mga damit ko. Pro we had to wait for like 20 min. kc di pa na iron yung mga damit ko. Infact last Friday night ko pa dinala sa kanila yun. Mejo nag freak-out ako, buti na lng they gave me a good discount. *lolz*

By 10:30PM nasa house na kami. Then I had to continue doing the laundry until 1AM. Kapagod talaga sobra. The laundry is the big culprit. Good thing, may magandang nangyari naman last night. Mejo umo-k pakiramdam ko. Worth it din ang pagpupuyat ko. Before going to bed by 2AM, na-update ko pa friendster ko for a while and posted some videos sa youtube acct ko. I was pretty bushed!

Sooo my self-proclaimed off at my other job was pretty plugged with personal stuff to do. And I had to pay the price now. Late ako at my day job kanina. I woke up at around 8:30AM and arrived at work 10:30AM na. Too bad. Exaggerated ang pagka late ko talga. Buti na lng di maxadong halata coz everyone were looking too busy doing nothing. Better late than never, still works for me though!

P.S. if u are all curious enough to know what videos I have posted sa youtube. Search my acct name gelay1976 at youtube search engine and you’ll know. Nakakatuwa xa, I can all assure you that. Right J???

Thank you....

I just wanna say thank you to all those who went out of their way and commented on my blog’s latest posting for the weekend. It truly does bring a smile on my face on a Saturday morning. Saturday has always been a struggle for me. It’s like the day would never end, prang ang tagal ng oras. I guess some of you would agree with me.

Anyway, I had a great time last weekend! The party at ranco was perfect to enjoy after a week of pressure at work at both of my job. A fellow RAGI member Tess celebrated her birthday. It was like me attending a cake festival. Her celebration was flooded with a variety of cake from friends. Gosh, I may need to shed some extra pounds for this week. I enjoyed the cheese cake and the spag so much that I think I over ate myself. MR had something to do with this. She had improved her culinary skills over the years. Another Ysabella in the making of Riyadh*lolz*.

The party at ranco has definitely been the highlight of my weekend. Friday was just a bore. I didn’t do my laundry kasi wala na namang tubig and nung nagkaron na I had to report for work naman. I had no choice but to bring all my office clothes to the laundry shop. Meaning I had to spend another SR20 for that. hehe!

Anyway, to my fellow bloggers thanks again. Thank you na rin to all those who visited my blog and never had the time to comment. I truly appreciate your visit!

PS. To J, thanks for the messages last weekend and for the call today. Truly hope u had a great time at the party with ur family and friends.

"Talk is cheap"

Talk is cheap
FORTyFIED By Cecile Lopez Lilles
It doesn’t cost anything for one to blab away until his tongue falls off, so many have turned this into a favored pastime; for others, it’s a full-fledged sport. But can we blame them? Not really. In this tropical society where self-aggrandizement seems to have become as rampant as influenza, the condition known as He Who Talks Too Much But Doesn’t Really Have Anything To Say has become as ordinary as the common cold.

Quite annoying, isn’t it? Being beside a man who has a fuel-injected, turbo-charged mouth? Whatever the reason, the stereotype of The Woman Who Talks Too Much is very much alive, ergo, readily accepted; while the man who does so isn’t greeted with as much tolerance. So there goes inequality of the sexes when tipped to the other direction… Yes, life is never fair!

Men who talk too much fall into several categories. Let’s scrutinize the following personas:

1. The Know-It-All: He thinks he is God and is convinced that his first name is Webster, last name Britannica. He may actually be knowledgeable about certain disciplines except that he lacks the discipline of practicing humility. This, plus his underlying presumption that no one else is as learned as he, makes him comes across as an insufferable boor. People who are well-educated are not compelled to aggressively fight for their personal opinions. They are confident in their choices so they don’t ram these down other people’s throats.
What to do: Tell him you have an IQ of 70 and that everything he is saying is over your head so he should hold his peace. Be the bigger person and leave him alone to his game.

2. The ‘Been There, Done That’ Fella: This type broaches any to pic involving travel to exotic places, participation in extreme sports and anything else that falls under the hard-to-reach, hard-to-find and hard-to-do categories, in order to build a platform for his ascent to the heavens by besting everybody else’s experience with his own. He invalidates someone else’s feat, no matter how noble, by saying “been there, done that, no biggie!” In other words, everything is an elaborate set-up for personal aggrandizement.
What to do: Tell him you just met God — yes, Him, the one who lives in Heaven, and that you both had a roaring great time! Let him try and top that.

3. The One-Upper: This man is a close relative of Mr. Been There Done That. Although he doesn’t concoct grandiose traps to glorify his image, he immediately puts down whoever relates a personal experience by magnifying his own. He makes himself appear as always “one better” than the next man. This type is prone to exaggeration.

What to do: Ask for hard evidence — some sort of visual proof.

4. The Family Motor Mouth: There is one in every family; most of the time it’s a sibling who commandeers and hogs the conversation. Those of this type love to listen to themselves and will go to great lengths to prevent anyone from snatching their podium. And the worst part is, since it is only among family, he refuses to be silenced.

He disregards others’ efforts to abate his performance and since everyone else is duty-bound by blood to humor him, he goes off… up, up, and away.

What to do: Serve lechon at the next family gathering and set it right in front of him—works every time!

5. The Napoleon Bonaparte: Seriously, there is such a thing as a Short Man Complex, although no one actually ever says it in the presence of the vertically challenged. Short men, more often than not, have booming voices, several decibels louder and deeper than the average male’s. They have loud contrabida laughs and constantly shout even when speaking to someone a mere arm’s length away. I highly suspect that this is because they’re not readily visible so they forever have to fight to be seen and heard. They probably want to sound bigger than they actually are. This analogy is congruent with the “short man/huge truck” joke. Oops, sorry; that was downright cruel of me so I take it back.

What to do: Tell him a short-man joke then just go to confession immediately after to rid yourself of the guilt.

6. He Who Thinks Out Loud: Among all the types this is the one that gets my goat. This man, who verbalizes his thinking process as it occurs in real time, is painful to bear. It’s like pulling teeth without the Novocain shots. Consider this scenario: a man is going on a trip and he is packing his suitcase. As he goes about the task he does a running commentary, much like a live play-by-play during a ballgame. “Okay, how many shirts should I take? Seven? Maybe eight? Nah, make that seven. Oh, but it won’t hurt to take an extra one just in case… Okay, what about pants? Two pairs of jeans and two pairs of trousers. Do I need more? Should I take one black pair and one brown? Or should it be the blue one. Let’s do socks. Tube socks or crew socks? How many dark, how many light?”

What to do: Option 1: Say something like, “Oh, for heaven’s sake, who cares how many and what color? Just stuff the darn clothes in and shut the suitcase! While you’re at it, shut your mouth as well. Puh-lease!” Maybe I overdramatize this one, but you get my drift. Option 2: Buy earplugs or wear your iPod.

7. Mr. Me, Myself and I: This man is Narcissus himself. Whether his preoccupation with himself is a healthy form of self-love or plain and simple conceit is something you will have to figure out. This type will engage you in a monologue with the sole intention of divulging his entire life story whether you are interested or not. By the end of his act you will have known what his great-great grandmother looked like, how cute he was as a baby, how many points he made in that deciding game for the varsity championship, how he likes his eggs done and his secret frustrated dream of wanting to be a talk show host.
What to do: Don’t waste your time. Walk out and eat a pint of Haagen-Dazs coffee ice cream; there ain’t no silencing this type.

8. The Kiss and Tell: This one’s a no-brainer; you know the type.

What to do: Kiss him and tell on him. If you’re gutsy, take a photo of the kiss, post it on the Net and have your 15 minutes of fame.

9. The Walking Encyclopedia, a.k.a. The Geek: Those who fall under this category are the real McCoys. They actually do know what they are talking about, except that not very many may be interested, so there is a shortage of sympathetic listeners. These guys rattle off technical stuff: numbers, formulae, equations, definitions, theorem, etc. Do we want to sit tight and listen to numerical values like the speed of sound and the speed of light? Do we want to find out about the intricacies of combustion or how the properties of agate are different from that of stones? Do we want to hear his rebuttal to the editorial piece in the latest issue of The Economist? Do we need to know which stocks he thinks will be the best buys in the next few weeks? Do want his projected permutations of the next winning lotto number based on his extensive knowledge of actuarial science? Or do we want to spend precious time watching Brad Pitt munch on food in his latest movie Ocean’s Thirteen? Again, it’s a no-brainer!

What to do: Pray he’s not gay and ask for his number.

But really, just how should a man handle the complicated art of verbal communication? I think the rule of thumb, as with everything else, is moderation. Here’s a practical index: in any given social situation, if you’re talking 30 percent of the time, you’re good; 50 percent, you’re hitting borderline, so back off; 70 percent, you’re talkative; 80 percent, you’re insufferable; 90 to 100 percent, you should be executed.

To those who are mathematically challenged, that translates to 18 minutes out of every hour of socialization as the acceptable length of time that one may talk.

What constitutes good verbal skills? I believe deliberateness in manner of speech gives the impression that the speaker has carefully weighed and processed his thoughts instead of blurting them out randomly; in other words, he should make sense. Just as important is cadence and timing. He mustn’t sound rushed as though he were stumbling over his own words or risk appearing high-strung or gung-ho. On the other hand, he should guard against speaking too slowly and intermittently, careful not to pepper his speech with “uhs” and “ums,” lest people think his vocabulary is all of one paper bag’s worth, or worse, that he is “special.”

What is at work here is mastery of language: a good command of grammar and a wide vocabulary. Please note that we need not confine ourselves to the English language. Politics aside, this brings to mind several notable people I truly admire — Filipinos all, who are as adept in Filipino as they are in English and have no problem switching from one to the other. There was the late business tycoon, Mr. Enrique Zobel, who was a true master of both languages. Listening to him speak was like being carried away by a Beethoven symphony. There is also Ms. Imee Marcos, who breathes life into our great language just as effortlessly as she articulates her thoughts in English. Another person worthy of mention here is Senator Edgardo Angara who, as a lawyer, is a maestro in spoken Filipino and English.

Let’s move back to us, we lesser mortals, who continue our humble struggle with language and communication. I have received e-mails asking why I occasionally inject Filipino idioms, phrases and entire sentences into my articles, post-scripted with suggestions that I should refrain from doing so. My answer is that there are Filipino ideas and images that have no direct translation into English; or maybe I just do not have the tools to execute them. But please let me add that I make use of Filipino because I am Filipino, and oh-so-proud to be. So there…

Whether or not one has mastery of language, it is essential that he does not try to mask any shortcomings by using “big” words. Most important is clarity of thought, so use precise words to communicate effectively. It may be helpful to note that speech in social situations should be sparing; it must be unleashed in short controlled bursts, so one doesn’t sound like a runaway train or what Ms. Miriam Defensor Santiago described as having “verbal diarrhea.”

So what is the difference between a buffoon at a cocktail party mouthing 1,000 words per nanosecond and UK Prime Minister Tony Blair exhorting everyone to champion the cause against terrorism on the BBC? Substance, my dear. Substance.

Video Calling....

Jaleesa & I (tomboyan..lolz)

Waaahhhhhh….something strange happen to me just this pm. Sis Jaleesa video called me. Na weird-out lang ako. Hehe. She’s actually in Melbourne and I’m here in Riyadh. I just can’t believe we’d go as far as video calling each other up *lol*. It was sooo funny, we were speechless, grasping our breath and consciously fixing ourselves at how we’d look on the video at both ends. That was really awkward!

I never thought the call would go thru, coz from what I know the video call here in Riyadh to other countries isn’t functioning just yet. But surprise surprise, it does work! Hahahaha! I think I just had to update myself on the technology constantly.

But so far so good. The conversation went well!

To jaleesa , I thank you gurl. I was moved by your goodness. You’re sooo sweet! I never thought it would be this beneficial to me spending so much time blogging and get to know u more. Blows my mind. Blogging will always be our common denominator. At least I am far more like a good conversationalist than Piolo. Right?

P.S. if u want to know more of my sistah, try to visit her blogsite at; http://thesearemyconfessions.blog-city.com/

P.S to P.S. the video call conve was just in time for my posting, it’s called “talk is cheap”. But I’m not saying, I’m cheap ha!!!

A quick note (MyWeekend)...

Just a quick note to let you guys know that updates might be a bit slow over the next 2 days or so. Y? coz it’s weekend. This is the only time of the week that I could do anything for myself i.e. tv series marathon (gossh I missed this part), laundry, laundry and more laundry, work at my second job, party at ranco, recuperate on Friday and iron then after, and work at my second job again, yes! no day-off for me, how ‘bout that?

Extremely busy weekend right? Though I haven't been feeling too great, as I have colds at the moment and 3 days na akong puyat. To my readers (meron ba?)..hehe, just bare with me a little bit. You can leave me great messages and comments. It truly does bring a smile to my face and hopefully I will respond to all messages soon as I get back on sat.

Hope you guys will have a great weekend ahead!

P.S. I’ll be posting an article which I quite liked, before I leave from work today, for your reading and something to contemplate during the weekend. Katuwa xa!

Gimme More- Reaction Paper...

Earlier this morning I got a call from Mark-it asking ‘bout my email address here at EY. He said he has a surprise for me. I know exactly what he’s thinking right there and then. I know it’s about my latest posting prior to this. It was about Britney’s new single GIMME MORE. What else could it be? I couldn’t think of anything else besides GM. Moments later I got the msg from him containing all the MP3’s. The gimme more track and cold as fire.

Prior to my latest post about the new single of Brit, I called mark-it yesterday PM. He was the first person I informed about the new single that has leaked on the internet since he’s also been a fan of brit and her hit single toxic. I asked him if he could download the MP3 for me. When it comes to music downloading, I could always run to him. Like the ones of Rihanna’s and Ne-Yo’s, Umbrella and Because of You.

The mp3 is in my mobile now. My first reaction, I was amazed. It’s listener friendly. The song still features brit’s classic breathy vocals that has always been her signature. It’s been 3 years since I haven’t heard anything new from her. I can’t lie, I actually love the song. The beat is addicting as hell, it reminds me of Justin Timberlake’s song on his album. Very catchy. The best part of the song isn’t Brit singing, it’s her opening line. “It’s Britney, bitch”. I admit, I kinda like it, makes me wanna dance. It reminded me of her last hit “slave 4 u” it made me dance. Definitely a dance track – one I could admittedly be seen singing at the top of my lungs on my way to work..hehe!

I didn’t like cold as fire. Britney sounded like a constipated 3-yr old..hahahaha!
P.S. Everyone, please support Britney. PLS.PLS.PLS.! Every one deserves second chances!

Britney's "Gimme More" leaked, finally debuts & getting rave reviews

Just a quick update on my fav artist britney:

Britney's official lead single has finally leaked. Anyway, the track is called Gimme More and it is a dance uptempo track produced by Timbaland protégé Nate "Danjahandz" Hills. The video for the track has already been shot and is currently being edited. This is the VERY track that she'll be performing at the VMA'S on 9th September in Vegas.

This bitch is no fool. This beat is crazy! She is definitely stepping on the right track with this lead single. It's rectro but funky and has the 80's pop stamp plastered (this is the direction Nicole Scherzinger and Jennifer Lopez should have went for). This is EXACTLY how I felt when I first heard Slave 4 U (which was produced by the Neptunes). I think with a track like this, she is going to KILL IT in her VMA performance and I can't wait.

Another track that has leaked from Britney's upcomin' album is COLD AS FIRE. Britney's comeback looks to be on the up again. She has also worked with T-Pain on 3 tracks.

"Gimme More" leaked on the internet on August 30, 2007. It has premiered on many radio stations, officially on Z100 in New York, followed by other premieres in other major markets such as KIIS-FM in Los Angeles among others. On August 30, 2007, "Gimme More" also had its Canadian premiere on Chum FM; a premiere on KISS100 in the UK, and a premiere on Fun Radio in France(soul & dance). Recently, a fan-made mash up of Gimme More and T.I.'s" Bring 'Em Out hit air-waves and has received such positive reception, that it has been included in KIIS-FM Top 9 @ 9.

The song is currently receiving heavy airplay from many major radio stations across the USA including stations in New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Chicago, Norfolk, and Washington DC. Apart from being the #1 most added song at Top 40 radio, it is one of the most added songs at Rhythmic, Dance and Hot AC radio formats. "Gimme More" is also #1 on Yahoo Music, based on the positive reaction to the single.

Definitely a great present of britney for me on my birthday last thursday. You know I'm such a fan!
I'm soo looking forward to hearing the song myself.
If anyone of u out there who has a copy of the HQ MP3, u better share it to me now or else....hehe! pls. pls.!

My Birthday Bash (With tired eyes, tired minds, tired souls, we slept)

It’s official I am now a year older than before. Waaaahhhhhh!

I always feel powerful whenever it’s my birthday. Most people would do whatever I request from them since most of them don’t have a gift..hehe and all they could do is provide me with whatever insane (not really that insane as u may think) thing I want. Hehe! I recently asked a lot of my friends to get together and help me with all the preparations for my big day. Though it has always been like that everytime a member of our circle of friends would celebrate anything.

I would assign one for the decoration, one for marketing, one for the cooking and setting up of the venue. I actually thought that my celebration wouldn’t pull through because of the sooo many things I had in mine. It’s like I usually questioned my capacity to put up such a huge party like that. You just had to consider so many things not to mention it was my first time to prepare quite a celebration ever.

I was totally wrong; all my friends were all supportive of me. From the smallest details to the most complicated ones. I was completely touched by their concerned and how they were involved with everything. Blows me away!

It was a last minute decision that is why I didn’t have the time to invite quite a lot of people.

I am sooo thankful that everything went well. It was a bit awkward at first because we were few, although some of the early birds were busy with the videoke and enjoying each other’s company. But I eventually got past it.

I was actually feeling sad because I sooo much wanted all my close friends to be together and the dinner might not push through because of the freakin’ show at the embassy. But hell no, for me it was a very successful celebration. I never would have thought everyone would be there and supported me all the way and everyone seems to be in a great mood.

You guys are worthy to mention. I could never thank you enough!

To Rommel & Allan; for the food preparation; for being the Ysabella’s and masters of the kitchen, enduring all the heat as much as you could. I was floored. I could not have done it all without you guys.

To Anita & Poch; for accompanying me with the marketing. With a limited budget, you two made it look easy and squeezed everything all up.

To Vil; once again you amazed me with your talent in arts. Wow! The decoration and design was done creatively. It just made the pictures looked more perfect! Thank you!

To Chinchin; for showing up early to helped in the prep and decoration. The b-day message board was just good enough. Thank you chin! You definitely deserve to be the heiress of my thrown (nasaan ang korona?). Hehehe! Chikka!

To Jam; the electronic queen; for lending me all the electronics (projector, Mediacom, lightings, etc) you could possibly set-up. It made the celebration much more alive. Thank you sistah!

To Ram; for the sumptuous corn/chicken soup you prepared. It was definitely a treat.

To Marco; for assisting us in everything during the preparation, better late than never.

To Wally; for being our runner every time we would need anything lacking in the kitchen.

To all my friends who shared with me their blessings, I thank you guys.

To Chris; who came all the way from Al Khobar, for the Zara shirt u gave me, it was perfect.

To Robert; thanks for the cutie stuffed toy and a limited edition polo shirt from bell labs. The native box is very very cute. I could use that to put all my aboubuts.

To RL; for the jersey gift u gave me and the advanced bday gift - stuffed toy you gave me months ago, I know how much you are attached to it, but still u gave it; means a lot to me.

To Dra. Allen; thanks for the ube cake. Sobrang sarap. Blockbuster kaagad xa. And thanks for the chaser & softdrinks.

To Dave; thank you. U made us all look tipsy or more, that night. Hehe! And thank you for the life-size poster you made for me. Tell Jon thanks din.

To Ice & Peggy; thanks for the stuffed toy. I liked the color combination, though!

To cuz Marlon; for the wonderful gift u gave me. It was such a big help! Thanks cuz.

To Jam, Roy & Wally; thanks for the cake, means a lot to me too.

To Mike, Jun & Matt; thanks for the cake. Pilitan ito..hahahah!

To my family in the Philippines for all the messages/greetings. To my manang neng in the UK, thanks for the message!

And to everyone who were present at my celebration. You just made my day all so memorable and a fun-filled one. From-the-bottom-of-my-broken-heart, thank you!

Time really flies so fast. I am now 31. I may not be in the calendar next year anymore, but I’m proud of it. It just makes me get old all worth it.

Finally, I thanked God for giving me everything.

With tired eyes, tired minds, tired souls, we slept!
